Richey Bellinger

ceramics | portland, oregon

“I am constantly experimenting with all aspects of my work. I am fascinated and continually challenged by the satisfying task of exploring ideas.”

With nature as his influence, Richey Bellinger engages the face of his porcelain works to explore texture, pattern and image. He creates strong forms using fluid glazes and soft surface relief designs.

Educated in the Midwest, Bellinger is now an established Northwest artist. He taught at Oregon College of Art and Craft for ten years, seven years at Portland Community College and has led workshops at Sitka Center for Art & Ecology in Otis, Oregon, among other schools in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Richey has also taught at Wheaton College, Illinois and holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University. He has shown his work throughout the United States for over 20 years. He has been included in many books and has been featured numerous times in the national journal Ceramics Monthly.
