Rebecca Scheer makes wearable one-of-a-kind and limited edition jewelry in sterling silver and 18k gold. The designs she creates are unified by their focus on the process of making. One line of jewelry is based on the act of drawing and utilizes a paired-down palette of dots and lines. These pieces are simple playful sketches in sterling and gold that come to life on the wearer’s body. Another line focuses on the movement of metal through hammer forging, melting and piercing.
Scheer’s work has been exhibited throughout the country at venues such as the John Michael Kohler Arts Metalsmith Magazine and Art Week and published in books including Silversmithing and 1000 Rings. She holds an MFA in Metalsmithing from University of Oregon and has taught at Oregon College of Art and Craft since 2003. In 2008, Scheer served as a juror for the Museum of Contemporary Craft exhibition Touching Warms the Art.
